10th Anniversary of the Parliament Channel

August 18, 2016 marks ten years since the first live broadcast of a sitting of the House on the Parliament Channel. To commemorate this anniversary, the Office of the Parliament this morning launched a week of activities in the Arnold Thomasos Room, 6th Floor, Office of the Parliament, Tower D, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain.

At today’s launch, Manager of Corporate Communications at the Office of the Parliament, Mr. Jason Elcock, gave a brief overview of the history of the channel; the rationale for its creation, some of the key achievements to date, and the vision for the channel in the months to come. He then outlined the details of the week of activities.

The activities, which will take place from Monday August 15th to Friday August 19th, will include open days on August 15th, 16th and 19th where groups and members of the public would be allowed the opportunity to take a guided tour the Parliament Chamber with the assistance of our Corporate Communications Officers, and a Parliament Expo on the Waterfront on August 17th and 18th, where the public can get firsthand information from Parliament Staff on how the Parliament and the Parliament Channel work. In addition, new programming is expected to premiere on the Channel in the month of August.
