The Honourable Karen Nunez-Teshiera, MP, Minister of Finance, will present the budget for fiscal 2009 in the House of Representatives on Monday September 22, 2008. The sitting commences at 2 p.m. On Friday September 12th, the Minister made the announcement in a brief statement in the House.
This marks the first occasion in which a woman Minister of Finance will present the budget. In 2006 Mrs. Kamla Persad-Bissessar became the first woman to lead the response to the budget, in her capacity as Leader of the Opposition.
