Chinese Delegation to Visit Trinidad and Tobago

From March 24th to 26th, 2012 a delegation led by His Excellency Mr. Wang Zhaoguo, Vice-Chairman of the Standing Committee of China’s National People’s Congress, will visit Trinidad and Tobago. The main purpose of the visit is to strengthen mutually beneficial exchanges and cooperation, in addition to promoting friendly relations between the two countries and their Parliaments.

The National People's Congress is the highest organ of State power in China. It enacts and amends basic laws of the State, including the Constitution; supervises the enforcement of the Constitution; conducts inquiries into state action and elects and decides on the choices of the leading personnel of the highest state organs of China, including the President and Vice President.  It is comprised of deputies who are elected for a five-year term.  

During their brief stay in Trinidad and Tobago, the delegation will visit Tobago, pay courtesy calls on the President of the Republic, Prime Minister and Leader of the Opposition and hold offical meetings with the President of the Senate and Speaker of the House. The Presiding Officers of the Parliament will also host the delegation at a welcome dinner.
