Mr. Hedwige Bereaux was first elected to the House of Representatives in 1991 as the Member for La Brea. He would contest and win this seat on four more occasions (1995, 2000, 2001 and 2002). Mr. Bereaux did not contest the La Brea seat in 2007.
During his tenure in the House of Representatives, Mr. Bereaux served in Government and in Opposition. In Government he served as Minister of Science, Technology and Tertiary Education as well as Deputy Speaker. Mr. Bereaux also served on several Parliamentary Committees.
