The First Session of the 11th Republican Parliament will be prorogued at midnight on Monday September 19, 2016. The Second Session of the 11th Republican Parliament will open on Friday September 23, 2016 at 1:30 p.m.

Please note that this will not be a Ceremonial Opening of Parliament, meaning that His Excellency the President will not be addressing members of both Houses. Instead both Houses will meet at the same time, the proclamation will be read in both Houses, and both Houses will conduct preliminary business before adjourning.
